7:54
No, no, no, it's perfect.
7:55
[chuckles] So I think the first thing is that I think diagnosis sometimes matters and, and sometimes it is less important, right? Because a lot of it also depends on where you live in the world and how your medical system operates.
8:11
Here in the States, you have to have an ADHD diagnosis by a medical professional in order to access ADHD medication.
8:18
So in that capacity, a diagnosis is very important.
8:20
However, the American healthcare system is broken, and so there are a lot of people who cannot afford or do not have access to healthcare or mental healthcare, um, or therapy or those kind of things.
8:32
Um, and so sometimes there are other ways of supporting ADHD like Deb talked about.
8:37
You know, some people, you know, maybe they do smoke a little weed.

49:15
Thank you.
35:52
Mm-hmm
35:53
... and wind up with like higher rates of STIs and again, like sexual assaults and this kind of thing because we lack, [laughs] we lack impulse control.
36:02
We are, we are, we are, we lack judgment, we lack emotional regulation, and a lot of times in our 20s, we don't necessarily understand all of the ways that ADHD impacts.
36:12
Like I didn't even know I had ADHD in my 20s, right?

7 MINS LATER

43:42
Mm-hmm.
43:43
But what I have found is, like, once I got over the kind of gut punch of shame of, like, oh, I have been guilty of being a shitty partner.
43:50
Like, I have been guilty of, of utilizing manipulative tactics in my relationships.
43:56
Once I kind of moved through that, I f- I found myself much happier because I was then able to go, and now I have built better systems.
18:53
Like I... [laughs] Do you think what you've learned on the road is going to change how you maybe write future books, approach your content, and what you put out in the world?
19:02
Oh, forever.
19:03
Forever.
19:03
I mean, the most valuable thing is that I'm getting live feedback.
19:08
I'm getting live feedback from people.
19:12
And over and over and over again, the thing that I'm hearing the most is, like the way that the field guide was laid out, the way that we fought for accessibility and just, like the methodology of the field guide is, it's working.
19:25
Like literally the other day I was in Philadelphia and I had somebody say that they write technical manuals for a living, that is their job, and that they thought that the ADHD field guide was the best laid out book that they have ever seen.

1:20
They were like, hey, just so you know, there's a lot of people.
1:23
I was like, how many people could it possibly be? It turns out there's a lot of people.
