What are the concerns here?
45:05
Yeah, sure.
45:06
So smart glasses look like ordinary glasses or sunglasses, but they have technology built into the frame.
45:13
So depending on the model, they can have cameras, microphones, allowing the wearer to take photographs or record video, live stream what they see, and often they interact with an AI assistant.
45:27
So the concern is really how discreet they are.
45:30
Someone can be standing right in front of you.
45:33
They look like they're just wearing sunglasses.

Have we seen any kind of regulation come in overseas in response to smart glasses, or I guess tapping into that kind of bigger picture issue?
0:31
Is it surprising that they've settled? What do we read into that?
0:35
Um, uh, first of all, good morning.
0:37
And, um, it is, it is kind of surprising because Meta has sort of set the tone amongst all of its competitors to really fight, um, all of the lawsuits against it.
0:47
How- however, this is coming in the backdrop of two major losses, um, in lawsuits, um, earlier this year around the same issues, around child privacy and so-called addictive, um, features.
1:01
Um, and I suspect it was a way to stop the, the media attention, um, around this.
1:08
And, you know, if you look at it, there is ...
1:10
It is significant.
1:41
So what did you think of the age verification methods?
3:18
So
3:19
in New Zealand, we have not banned nudifier apps or websites, those kinds of tools.
3:26
Other countries have or are in the sort of getting there.
3:30
So the UK and Australia are those examples.
3:33
In the app stores, so Apple, Android or Google, Those terms and services say that there shouldn't be any apps for sale that are expressly for sexualised deepfakes, but that doesn't mean that they're not there.
3:50
They're often disguised as face swap apps, so they're still being sold there.
3:57
And you've also got incidental tools, tools that can be, are not primarily for sexualised deepfakes, but can still be used that way.
4:10
So this law that is making its way through Parliament, the Deepfake Digital Harm and Exploitation Bill, what more would it need to do to be effective?
