Caroline PinedaGUEST
Well, it's funny because I actually work closely with Zora on our WNBA coverage, and she's a friend of mine and, um, I've loved watching her work on college football the last few years.

Caroline PinedaGUEST
So less so in like a reaching out formally kind of way, but more just in being like in constant communication with her, um, through football and WNBA and other things.

Caroline PinedaGUEST
Um, it's just been so fun to get to watch everything that she's done with NBC and to get to see her on our WNBA coverage and work with her has been tremendous.

Caroline PinedaGUEST
Um, and I did actually, we like, when we were on football, I was doing our Big Ten games the last two years, and she was doing other Big Ten and Notre Dame.

Caroline PinedaGUEST
So I always would get to see her on the sidelines there and, um, she's given me advice, not just to do with football, but just in so many different ways, um, including WNBA coverage.

Caroline PinedaGUEST
And I also actually, when I was a student, got to work with her a little bit when she had first come to NBC.

Jessica SmetanaHOST
So how did that sort of shape what you've been able to do so early on in your career, ending up being on NBC now as someone who's just graduated only four years ago?

But what, I don't know, what, what sort of made you want to go down this path professionally?

Caroline PinedaGUEST
So when I was younger, so my mom went to Notre Dame and it was appointment television in our house, college football in general, but especially Notre Dame games on Saturdays.

Caroline PinedaGUEST
I loved the, what would you fight for videos? I actually wrote my essay, my like why Notre Dame essay when I applied to college on the, what would you fight for videos? And so I just loved like everything that went into the production of Notre these games and and the tradition of all of it um and i also just really loved writing and so when i was younger um i would write a lot creatively and and just really enjoyed doing that and thought maybe i'd want to be an author or like go into something writing related um and then at some point for it was a class project i was in fifth grade and it was open-ended it was anything of your choosing you could just pick anything to study for this independent research project and i had recently seen the movie secretariat and i loved the movie thought it was great if you've seen it it's i think it's a great movie um and i thought it'd be really neat to do my project on secretariat the movie but also just the story and so i was working on it and i found a po box address for ron turcotte the jockey And my mom was like, well, if you want to try to write him a letter and ask him some questions, like we can mail it off and see.
