You know, if someone might need that extra processing time or clearer instructions, is there anything they should specifically be looking out for?

Caroline MurphyGUEST
I mean, this is, this is really difficult, um, because it's not always really obvious.

Caroline MurphyGUEST
Um, it could be, as we've kinda said before, asking questions, and asking the same questions that you've already answered, and thinking, "Well, I've already answered that question." And I don't know if you've ever been in a situation where someone's asked you a question, you've then said, "What?" And then they start asking the question again, then you start answering.

Caroline MurphyGUEST
You think, "Well, hang on, I thought you didn't hear me." But actually it's just that delay in, in auditory processing.

Caroline MurphyGUEST
And in my, um, house with my children, obviously I used to say, "Are you listening to me?" [laughs] But we don't say that anymore.

Caroline MurphyGUEST
We say, um, "Have you processed what I've just said?" So, 'cause you can hear what somebody's talking about, or can hear them talking, but you won't necessarily be processing what they're saying.

So thinking around, you know, a, a newly diagnosed patient navigating that medication for the first time, any suggestions on how pharmacists, pharmacies can work more closely with caregivers, support workers, educators, while still respecting that patient's autonomy? Any suggestions there, Caroline? Could we come to you for that one first?

Well, all I could think the entire time both of you were speaking was, "Yes, yes, I hear all of this." And I hear it on both sides of the fence.

Caroline MurphyGUEST
And really, when I say both sides of the fence, one side is those that had a full-time career prior to the pandemic happening, and the other side is those that may have been graduating during that time.

Caroline MurphyGUEST
This might have been their first few years at working and that being the norm.

Caroline MurphyGUEST
And so generations aside, whenever you entered the industry, that matters a lot.

Caroline MurphyGUEST
And on both sides of the fence, there's a complete us versus them mentality, and both people think that they're in the right.
