Um, let's talk about why toilets are not very good for people with stomas in a minute, but first, Caroline, let's walk us through what is a stoma, who has them?
13:06
So a stoma is when you bring the bowel through the abdominal wall to the outside, so something that's normally on the inside is sutured on the outside.
13:14
There's more than one sort of stoma.
13:15
You can make a stoma out of the colon, called a colostomy, that formed poo comes out of, like it might come out of your bottom.
13:23
You can make a stoma out of the ileum, called an ileostomy, which more liquid, small bowel contents come out of.
13:30
That needs emptying a bit more often.
13:32
And you can also make something called an ileal conduit that you use if someone's needed to, to have their bladder removed, and urine comes out of that, plumbed into your kidneys.

It, it must be a really big conversation 'cause it is a life-changing decision.
