And what's the, what's the general vibe when you talk to people, like, connected to AMLA on off record? How do people feel about the work?
4:22
So there is a, a lot of, uh, mixed, uh, feelings, uh, about the work.
4:28
Definitely, uh, from, uh, the AMLA side, uh, there is a lot of focus.
4:34
Like, people are really, uh, really focused on finishing this regulatory work, uh, not just because, as I said, it lays the groundwork for the future oversight, but also because EU laws requires that the regulatory work is in place by 2027.
4:51
So there are strict deadlines that AMLA has to abide to, and, and the commission is, is really, like, keeping a watchful eye that, um, that AMLA is doing its job and sticks to the deadline.
5:05
So, uh, definitely, uh, people are very focused on that.
5:09
There is, I guess, also a lo- a bit of, uh, frustration, uh, with it because as, as you might have seen and as, like, our listener might have experienced, there has not been an awful lot of communication, of outreach by AMLA.

How serious is this stall on data sharing?
15:39
And how did football come to be regulated in the EU then?
15:42
So that's a, that's an interesting story.
15:45
The first country that actually regulated football was, uh, was Belgium after one of the biggest scandals that involved the match fixing, money laundering, tax evasion.
15:55
Police, uh, raided, uh, some of the biggest clubs in the country.
15:59
And so, uh, authorities decided that around 2020, 2021, that football clubs, uh, should be subject to anti-money laundering regulation.
16:09
That was the first time, like in any other countries, like where there are like the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City.
16:17
They are not, uh, regulated in the same way.

Is there a shift in culture now knowing that these, these changes will be coming into effect?
