What are some of the symptoms physically and or emotionally that might indicate that someone is carrying unresolved trauma?
6:32
Yeah, absolutely.
6:33
So often what can happen, of course, actually, maybe I'll give a little bit of just a little bit of biology here because it'll help set up the context for the symptoms.
6:44
So estrogen is this incredible hormone, and it has a very calming effect on what's known as the HPA axis, so the hypothalamic pituitary axis, and that's your stress response system.
6:57
And Estrogen has a very direct influence on that.
7:01
And then, of course, in perimenopause, our estrogen begins to drop, which means our stress threshold also drops with that.
7:08
So your nervous system, which might have been managing just fine, suddenly starts firing completely differently.

going to learn from you.
3:46
Mm.

But something cracked open inside of me, and I felt something in that class that I had never felt before that I knew I needed to follow and get curious about.
3:58
So while I was working as a biologist, I did yoga teacher training, and I opened a yoga studio, and I kinda did double duty for a long time.
4:07
[chuckles] Um, and then really came to the realization that that was my true calling, was to, to work with people in terms of somatic healing and coming into the body.
4:17
And so, um, I left my biology job and really focused on that and, and did a number of different, like, branches and avenues from there.
4:26
So, uh, continuing to heal from my own sexual trauma, I became a sexual awakening facilitator and, um, really delve into the, uh, the power of healing our sexual energy and accessing our sexual energy as women as this creative life force energy that is incredibly powerful, um, and has so much wisdom but so many of us have forgotten how to access.
4:50
So I did this for, for a long time, and then fast-forward into my mid-40s, where I'm, like, really in perimenopause and, uh, struggling with a lot of symptoms despite, you know, eating well and moving my body and having all of these beautiful embodiment practices and doing all the things that had served me really, really well for a long time.

Could you explain a little bit-... about that to people who have only really encountered more physical types of therapy?
