It sounds to me like Maine schools are perhaps not implementing the research that exists.

The main focus is generally social-emotional.

And the problem, here's what I see.

We don't want to stigmatize students.

That's the hope.

We don't want to hurt anybody's hearts by saying, oh, you're having problems with three times four, but we're just going to keep working on it in our group.

The problem with that is students know.

And I think that's so detrimental to kids, to adults, to us as a society.
