I think it's important to see here, too, that what is the presence of God associated with in this case, right? So you having no hope and without God in the world.

It's important because in a lot of ways we can affirm with Paul, especially in the early chapters of Romans and other places too, that the law is in the world.

It's everywhere.

The law of God is everywhere.

Everybody has it.

It's written on their hearts.

It goes in the ears, it creates faith.

And in chapter 2, Paul's going to tell you exactly why you might need that election to be the case, because it turns out in the opening verses of chapter 2, you sound pretty incapable of doing much of anything but sin, right? This seems like the only thing you're going to be doing, and so you're definitely going to need something from the outside to make a decision for you, and this is what Paul is going to get into in chapter 2.

Yeah, again, we noted at the end of our last episode that there is no chapter break in the original writing.

We always kind of have to do this.

This is all sort of the same argument.

And what Paul is going to do here as we enter into Chapter 2 is he's really going to lay out the foundational teaching that he wants them to grow more and more deeply into.

this seems to also have that, the clarity that faith, um, You know, this section helps us describe what faith is, define what faith is.

And the important thing is that it's in Jesus Christ.

It's in the Lord Jesus Christ.

It's toward all the saints.

So faith is in a particular thing.

And then results in things.

It makes me feel like I have a deeper understanding.

Mm-hmm.

Which is also what some other, uh, denominations struggle with.

Uh, double, double predestination als- often struggles with, that election is actually by the law in those schemes.

Hence you have this, the framework of election to damnation and election to salvation in some mechanism by the law is how it'll play out.

The law in Christ's act of fulfillment of it or the law in some other schema.

But, and your confirmation then of election might even be then in works of the law or behavior or a feeling towards the law.

You now have a happy versus a, a accused approach to the law or something like that.
