Holmes is Muhammad's old Army friend, who has spent a week trying to get someone at the FBI to take him seriously about his friend John, about the Bushmaster, about the boy John called his little sniper.

I went to the range, uh, Thursday and, uh, I sided in the Henry, uh, LeverAction Supreme and 450 Bushmaster.

That thing is a tack driver.

I was holding one inch groups out to 100 yards.

Right.

Just trying to find the same bullets that will cross compatible.

Because I'm needing more of a rifle bullet for the Bushmaster.

Then you can't really use like a .45 Colt bullet.

Peter described how neither he nor his ex-wife, Nancy Lanza, ever suspected that Adam was capable of such violence.

Nancy, who was a gun enthusiast, kept several firearms in the house, and one of these, the Bushmaster semi-automatic rifle, was the weapon Adam used in the massacre.

While they always considered Adam peculiar and isolated, they never believed he was dangerous.

Uh, yeah, I had my Bushmaster X15 out, and I put my riser mount on there, or my carry guard, carry handle, uh, mount, and the prism sight I had, and shot a bunch of vit over the weekend.

And I think it is interesting and noteworthy and worth discussing here what exactly gets banned, because it starts to get fairly technical and fairly, to some folks, confusing fairly quickly.

And that's because the concept of an assault weapon is nebulous and difficult to pin down, right? California was a groundbreaking state in this endeavor back in the late '80s, early '90s, when they first decided they wanted to ban "assault weapons." They started with just a list of firearms, right? A Bushmaster particular model, and it banned several dozen of those.

Well, pretty quickly, firearms manufacturers took a look at the law and realized, "Well, we can just call this something by a different name." And they changed the names, got around the ban.

California came back with-- and created what was called a features test.
