If you could create a tenth position on the diamond, where would it be?
1:25
How about, like, a Savannah Bananas thing, where, like, you get one person in the stands.
1:29
Or, like, not stands, foul territory.
1:31
You can put them anywhere, like, around.
1:34
And if they catch it, if it's in the stands, it's an out still.
2:03
Really?
2:04
This past year.
2:05
OK.
4:54
What do you remember about him, and what had you heard about him and throwing to him for the first time?
5:00
Yeah, it took a while for me to throw to him.
5:05
The first time, yeah, so we met in whatever, Arizona, I think, before camp had started.
5:10
I think we'd played golf a little bit.
5:12
Obviously, I knew who he was.
5:16
I'd hung out with, like, Emerson and Logan, so guys that had got drafted in years prior that knew him.
5:23
But...

I'd hung out with Emerson and Logan, so guys that had... got drafted in years prior that knew him.
5:32
But yeah, it took a while, honestly, for me to meet him.

How do you manage a catcher?
2:46
How do you describe yourself as a pitcher? Like, what are your strengths? What's your style?
2:50
Um, just try to do the simple things really well, the little things.
2:54
Especially coming up and starting out as a pitcher, like, never, never threw too too hard, didn't have the best stuff.
3:00
But, um, think something that allowed me to, to develop so well with the Mariners is just, uh, putting the importance on doing the little things really well and doing them at a high level.
3:10
Stuff that, you know, any, any pitcher could do no matter how hard you throw or what your stuff looks like.
3:15
Um, can always be in good counts and always execute pitches to the best of your ability and, um, yeah, that's what I try to do.
3:23
Did I hear this story right? Did the Giants at one point try to sign you? Is that, is that a true story?
3:28
[laughs] Yeah.
1:48
What do we got?
1:49
Well, I mean, it's not like a groundbreaking story, but no, we were, uh, so I got drafted in '21 with, uh, with surgery with TJ.
2:00
And so I was rehabbing in Arizona, and he was with the Padres at the time before the Soto trade.
2:08
And, uh, so I was coming back from TJ and I'm, like, doing one of my first rehab outings and, uh, I'd had like a pretty up and down rehab.
2:17
Uh, not with...
2:20
Like, uh, with my arm, but, like normal, with, with all the elbow stuff.
2:25
Um, but I was coming back from TJ and I was, like, kind of ready to get going.

How long does something like that sit with you in the off-season?
