We've got to invest in the community because people do feel they're being left behind.

Bronwyn, do you see that in your work as well? Yeah, absolutely.

And, you know, just some of the numbers really show how growth areas are different to other parts of our cities.

So in Casey and Cardinia, for example, half of all households have a mortgage compared to 33% for across Australia.

Nearly half of residents are couples with children.

We've got a much higher percentage of residents born overseas and residents who speak English.

a language other than English at home.

the infrastructure doesn't keep pace with the housing.

Absolutely.

And a lot of this comes down to advocacy as well as what council is responsible for delivering.

So it could just be traffic management.

It could just be putting the extra turning lane at the roundabout early.

It could be working with developers to turn their sales office into a community center at a very short turnaround.

Because otherwise we see, as suburban expansion happens, we can see a patchwork of development.

Where is your focus right now with other levels of government on that advocacy front?

Do you foresee a future where the traditional four-year degree plus internship model is replaced by a more integrated direct registration master's program?

This is a very topical question at the moment, um, Carleen, and one that we in pharmacy education and in health education and regulation have been talking about a lot, different models of education.

I think the first thing that we start with, and this is, we're talking here about accreditation standards and for our initial registration entry to practice programs.

Firstly, learners have a choice.

Um, so at the moment in pharmacy, we have a considerable choice for learners.

Some of them will do a four-year bachelor, bachelor honors.

That's, that's sort of like the regular choice.

How is the APC ensuring that these integrated models maintain the same level of practical, on-the-floor clinical rigor as the traditional pathways?
