Is that out of demand or is that out of you being able to keep up the supply chain?

Yeah.

So that was design from the start and we're kind of, you'll see that things are sold out because we're like in a bit of a transition at the moment where we started out testing product by selling in drops.

So doing limited drops, selling them one time, scarcity by design and seeing how long it would take for those to sell out.

We're now like taking our data from that and our best sellers from that and properly developing out like a more traditional e-com where you have like your corky highlight, you know, the brand and product architecture, all of that.

So we're kind of in the middle of a transitional phase, but most of the stuff you'll see on there, that's, that's sold out.

That's all, that's all by design.

and speaking of that it sounds like you've well and truly proven the concept now um you've got a customer base did i read that 50 repeat rate at the moment from your initial customers that's a pretty good sign

Did you have a welcome to the Olympics moment?

I mean, the Olympics, and to be honest, that was my first team ever.

So, like, quite often you might make Commonwealth Games or World Championships beforehand and then you go on to the Olympics, which...

It's the same people at a world championships.

It's just the pageantry is like way down because it's just one sport as opposed to the circus that is the Olympics.

So stepping into my first ever senior team and it being an Olympic team at the same time was just like everything ratcheted up to a thousand degrees.

But I loved it there so much.

Do you guys like sports movies? That's a good sports movie.

But before we do, tell us what was the crux of the idea behind Athletica? What made you go, "There's a gap in the market, and I think I'm the right person to help fill that"?

It was just this moment of understanding that most of the stuff I was putting on my body every single day, activewear, is made from new virgin plastics and treated with really harsh chemicals, and we're actually seeing a lot of press about this now, but only found this out three, four years ago.

And then I started looking for other options.

I mean, it wasn't my first thought, "Oh, I can't find this.

Immediately I'll just go start a company." It's like, "Let me go look for other options." And there's, there's the natural fiber roots, which is like looking at hemp and bamboo, and I, I tried particularly bamboo, which has a few chemical problems.

But tried it and it didn't stand up to being able to do an Olympic level workout, so I couldn't wear it.

And then I couldn't find anyone else that was doing sustainable activewear from the ground up.

Does that still stack up? Is it still true that it's hard or more expensive or less profitable to build a business that is grounded in sustainability?

Mm.

The other part of it is is that, as you said, the ability to tolerate the friction of competition in order to drive better performance, and I think Kate and I were uniquely positioned to model this because we're sisters.

We competed in the same event.

We trained together, lived together, competed together for, I don't know, 15 years.

And Kate was always...

She was older than, two years older than me.

She was objectively a better swimmer than me.

Mm

Really?

And you know, I've broken world records.

We've stood on top of Olympic podiums together and sung the national anthem.

Like, I've carried the flag for Australia.

But when people ask me, "What is your favorite moment from your career?" It is Olympic Trials 2012, the 50 meters freestyle, and it was our last chance to qualify together.

We had to come first or second, uh, in, in that race to qualify and go to the Olympics and realize this dream that we'd had since we were seven and nine years old.

And it's so interesting 'cause we didn't talk about it before the race, but we knew that th- this was Bronte's shot.

Tell us, Bronte, what's the favourite moment of your career?

Well, my favourite moment is actually none of those.

My favourite moment was when I first qualified for the team.

So to qualify, you've got to finish first or second at an Olympic trials in 2012.

I said to finish first, I finished second.

And that was my favorite moment.

Like we just dreamt of doing this since we were kids.
