So as y'all are trying to look at making a budget, this might be getting a bit into the behind the scenes here, but how do y'all start looking how to cut up the pie?
Briggs HopsonGUEST
We start with the process after session's over of our legislative budget analysts start working with the agencies to determine what their real needs are.
Briggs HopsonGUEST
And then we come to the Joint Legislative Budget Committee meetings, which is what we had last week, and we'll have some more of those.
Briggs HopsonGUEST
Eventually, we set a revenue number and we look at things that we feel like we may have to put into the the budget the budgeting right now and then a lot of other things i would say most things we look at when we get into session because they can change quite a bit there's there's some that we know are not going to change and we feel like in in most cases we want to go ahead and plug those expenses into the budget for instance we know that our our retirement account is going to go up a half a percent this year based on the five-year 0.5% per year, 2.5% overall that we put into it a few years ago.
Briggs HopsonGUEST
And so that likely will be plugged in now at the outset before we even get into session.

But, you know, how would you like Mississippians to be thinking about the budgeting process and, you know, how they might want to communicate with their lawmakers about their priorities for the state?
