A lot of times, I mean, all of my books for the last however many have been sold on proposal, and I typically when I'm creating a proposal or putting together a pitch, it's gonna have the majority of the plot, at least all the major beats, and then a lot of what I want the emotional arc to be or what the themes are.

Bridget MorrisseyGUEST
So there's still some discovery in there, but I'm never going in not knowing what the ending is or anything like that.

Bridget MorrisseyGUEST
In COVID when we couldn't go anywhere, like early, early pandemic, um, and I was desperate for something to feel new, I would bring my laptop into the bathtub with me, and I had an entire, like, you know, one of those stands that was not...

Bridget MorrisseyGUEST
It was rickety, too, so the stakes were really high, and that was one of the only things that motivated me weirdly enough 'cause it felt so strange that, like, it knocked my brain out of the doom spiral enough to get the words down.

It's this dichotomy of like, where are we?

Bridget MorrisseyGUEST
And I write queer romances because I am a queer person and I write the love stories that matter to me and that I want to see represented.

Bridget MorrisseyGUEST
But I have been coming up against a very interesting disinterest in sapphic romance specifically from the powers that be.

Bridget MorrisseyGUEST
I get told all the time from different avenues how non-lucrative it is, which is a very frustrating thing to hear.

Bridget MorrisseyGUEST
And obviously, when it is an identity I share, it is a strange thing to be having business conversations about, like, my life but that's part of the game and you just have to have a thick skin and it's really important to me to just keep persevering and keep trying to get these stories out there and i don't know if i'll be able to keep it up because of the way that the reaction is just from the the people that make the decisions not necessarily even the readers they just have a hard time getting these books to the readers or finding them because i know the readership exists So, yeah, it is a weird thing with that.

Bridget MorrisseyGUEST
And I it definitely was a shift with the latest administration coming back again into office in the US.
