The black... gentleman didn't come back and died and now they're trying to make it sound they uh attorney ben crump of the black lives matter movement in the media some people in the liberty nancy grace for example are trying to make it sound like these kids did nothing or did something wrong oh you went out and you've actually fact-checked ben crump you guys have been nothing but helpful to the family to the attorney ben crump to law enforcement and uh some of these people have lied publicly could you speak to that for just a minute brian

Well, the first thing that we had to, in fact, check Mr. Crump on is that during his press conference the other day at the NAACP convention, he said that we told the family that Nolan was found fully clothed.

And that's not true.

We never told the family anything.

I never even discussed with them, you know, the day of the recovery or what I saw or images I had or anything like that because it just wasn't appropriate for the level of grief they were experiencing at the time.

Sure.

And then, of course, the main thing about Crump, and we all kind of know how he makes his living, he's basically trying to put the state of Mississippi on trial for 70-year-old crimes.

Well, thanks for having me back, Nancy.

And, you know, yeah, the, early on we had sent our, uh, our incident commander out there just to kinda, you know, do an assessment, see if there was anything we could do to add to the, uh, the search.

Um, i- initially, the sheriff's office, the communication we had with them was that they were not accepting third-party help.

Um, we decided to go ahead and, and, and put a full plan in writing together to submit to them just to let them know that, you know, we did have some professional resources and capabilities to add to the mix, uh, should they need it, um, and submitted it back and, and they basically just reiterated that they were not accepting, uh, help from outside agencies.

So we just stood down and, and went back to other operations.

How important is it to have as many boots on the ground in the first hours after a kidnapping? Why is it so important?

Our, our opinion, uh, Nancy, is that, you know, anything we do can't hurt, certainly, as long as we're not in- interfering in any sensitive areas, uh, you know, staying away from crime scenes.

Guthrie.What are you offering to Nanos and what's his problem? Is he out at another basketball game and hasn't been able to respond?

So, you know, we have a lot of volunteers and assets.

We have a lot of, of folks that are very experienced, uh, current and former law enforcement, military, all that kind of thing, K9 dogs, which are extremely, uh, beneficial in these types of searches.

Uh, the first time we reached out, uh, just with a general offer, we did hear back from the PIO saying that they were not accepting help from external organizations.

So we kind of...

After Josh was out there finishing his assessment, we put together a full operational package and figured it couldn't hurt to submit it one more time just so they would know that, you know, we've come a long way from being just a bunch of guys on boats pulling people off of roofs.

We really do have a lot of, um, uh, really amazing assets and capabilities.

That is a shame, and it could have been corrected.

So we used everything from helicopters to donkeys and mules, and I'm not talking about side by side.

I mean, I'm talking about the kind with ears, to get these units up into the mountains, and within 72 hours, the missing persons list went from 4,000 to under 1,000.

That's why I think comms is so important, is you, you get a lot of, you know, chaos and freaking out about, "Where's my loved ones at?" Really, a lot of times, they're just incommunicado.

Going back to your question about logistics, um, it's, it kind of...

I- it's, it's been an evolving process for us, but it kind of now works the same.

We're very fortunate to have really strong NGO partners around the United States that, uh, collect a lot of different, uh, type of- types of goods.

So how do you guys navigate that when you know you're gonna deal with some extreme bureaucracy?
