Cloud, do you think what you've done in the interim has, I don't know, changed your style, changed your approach? Like what have you learned with some of the different things that you've taken on over the last couple of years that now, you know, maybe make you a better, different coach taking over this role now?
9:05
Yeah, I would tell you the last couple of years, um, it's really been the adjustment to the lack of practice and what does that look like and so giving the information in other ways and how do you present that and what does that look like and how do you teach outside of the practice time that really we're used to in a collegiate setup and even in The way we were set up in China with the Russian League, we would practice for a couple weeks and then go play in the span of two weeks, six games.
9:48
And then we'd have a little break and we'd practice.
9:52
That's not what the national team's like.
9:55
We have a very, very, very limited practice time together.
10:01
The PWHL was very similar with, you know, we basically have 10 days for a training camp and grabbing players from six different organizations and then having seven players gone.
10:16
And then, hey, we're playing games.

And I wonder who you've taken things from as a coach to kind of develop who you are.

So maybe just talk about the difference of competing at a different level and then how to raise the bar to get to that national ranking level.
20:13
So that's definitely one thing.
20:15
Iron sharpens iron.
20:16
There's a reason why the WCHA was successful.
20:19
It's because their teams week in, week out are successful.
20:22
I don't think they get into an NCAA tournament and like, oh my goodness, we need to ratchet it up.
20:28
Like this game's so fast.

How is your recruiting philosophy or standards going to change in the AHA versus the WCHA? Now that you're at Syracuse and maybe you can't get the players that want to compete against Wisconsin and Ohio State, what is it that you're going to be looking for? And where do you draw the line now, given the different level of players that you might be able to recruit?
