Brian had a chance to chat with Senator Fetterman, who he said was encouraging and empathetic.

Senator Fetterman was to my left, and at one point he said, "Hey, hey, Brian, did, did you kill a deer last year?" And I said, "Yes, Senator, I did." [laughs] He goes, "Was it a buck?" [laughs] And I said, "Yes, sir, it, it was." And this is the middle of a dinner while everybody else is speaking.

And I said, "Well, you know, it was kind of a funky rack, but he had 13 points." He goes, "Oh," he stood up.

"Oh, wow, that, that, that's a giant.

Congratulations." [laughs] At this point, everybody, uh, got quite, quite the chuckle out of it, and it was kind of great to relate about, you know, uh, something that, you know, us Pennsylvanians can share together, and that's outdoorsmanship and hunting.

At the hearing, Brian sat in a plexiglass cage while his family sat in the audience.

I sat in literally the penalty box.

You know, it wasn't a three-minute icing penalty.

I asked Brian about this interaction, and he confirmed it.

At least in our cases, I can't speak for others, but clearly working against us and not with us, and that's a very difficult pill to swallow as a proud American.

Brian was scheduled to be sentenced before Ryan and Tyler, and he told me, given the sentiment on the island, he fully expected his fate to be worse than Michael's.

My case was never made public there.

I'm not sure how or why.

Never published in their, their local media.

But Michael found out and, you know, I would constantly just pick his brain, just, I mean, I was prepared to go to prison.

He was the last one that was there.
