So talk to us about how we or me or the audience can utilize our IRAs or our retirement funds for what I would call alternative investment vehicles.
5:54
right so i'm not a financial advisor or a broker dealer i don't have investments for people got you what i have is a platform i work with an ira custodian like i mentioned earlier they're out of las vegas called accuplan and american estate and trust and what we do is we will hold alternative assets inside people's ira accounts that the traditional brokerage houses the fidelities the schwabs etc don't want to hold um for record-keeping reasons mostly it's just a lot easier compliance right correct easier to deal and you know they deal in security marketable securities stocks bonds mutual funds etfs etc and then insurance companies are out there that have some different products like annuities and stuff like that that people can have in their IRAs.
6:42
But when the retirement account rules were written by the ERISA Act in the early 70s, it didn't really outline what you could invest in, just what you couldn't.
6:52
And they really only listed life insurance contracts and what they deem as collectibles.
7:00
And there was even some updates to that where they started allowing precious metals into IRAs later on.
7:07
But they really outlined, there are some rules about self-dealing, and we were talking about this the other day offline.
7:14
So you can't loan yourself money.

16:09
And I'm interested to hear, what were you thinking when they said, you know... hey, Brian, you know, hey, there's this oil derricked out in the middle of Texas, and I'm gonna invest all my life savings, and I know I'm gonna get rich.
15:57
So six leads is a lot of money.
15:59
Getting understanding of that, your math behind your pipeline of if you get X amount of qualified leads, qualified opportunities, they reach it, you get qualified, then what is the percentage and what is the timeline that they ultimately will close? So that's the hard part sometimes though with misalignment internally is not being clear on, well, we got the qualified leads.
16:19
That's what marketing team for this company is, like that's our OKRs.
16:24
We want qualified ops.
16:26
Okay, we got qualified ops.
16:27
Well, CEO is looking at cash flow, looking at time to close on the deals.
16:33
Sales is looking for revenue created and how to create and close deals faster.

23:50
And if I, if I gatekeep that, like some other people in the space do like, You miss out on what could be the next cool product or something that one person might click with and be like, oh, my God, that resonates with me.
18:50
Do you have a story in mind that you can think of?
18:54
Yeah.
18:54
Yeah.
18:55
Well, it's one of my compliance only friends.
18:58
So one of my friends, he's a lawyer and then his wife's a medical doctor.
19:03
So what happens is, you know, I that's how I grew my business at first.
19:06
It was just all friends, friends of friends and family members.
22:56
So tell us a little bit about that.
JadenHOST
29:25
Yeah.
29:26
And so fortunately that same second trumpet player was a good lead player and was able to help me out and understood the importance of trying to kind of play it my way.
29:36
We'd already played a couple of things.
29:37
So you got a sense of what that was and where I was putting it and surreptitiously split some lead with me for the rest of the week while I kind of pulled it back together.
29:46
Went through the following week and came up and it was then Thanksgiving and I was in New York for Thanksgiving visiting my then girlfriend, now wife.
29:54
And through some contacts with folks in Florida who knew him, I managed to call Roger Ingram for a lesson the day before Thanksgiving 2006.
30:04
I'd wanted to get a lesson with Roger for a long time anyway, but I'd had a difficult time getting in touch with him to get it organized.

Because it's
8:38
For folks that connect with you tomorrow night, what exactly are you putting out there for folks to pick up on? Well,
8:44
that's a good question.
8:45
I mean, right now we're really kind of developing and fleshing this out.
8:49
And let me provide a little context.
8:54
My uncle that helped raise, helped my mom raise me, he was an Army veteran, World War II veteran.
8:59
You know, so he was, uh, in the middle of, you know, the real deal, marching through seven countries.
9:04
And he, so he survived some really harrowing experiences.

7 MINS LATER

15:47
And I'm curious, when you talk with the veterans, do you find that you have to code shift from how you would talk to a civilian in a similar context? Yeah.
1:16
And now, here's today's devotion.
1:20
Hi there, my name is Brian.
1:22
I'm a longtime friend of Brad's since our college years, where I played soccer and was a goalkeeper.
1:28
Through the years, Brad and I have connected through Soccer Chaplains United as we support each other in ministry, pray for each other, and collaborate together.
1:37
When I lived for about 10 years in Senegal, West Africa, Soccer Chaplains United supported us with soccer gear for our ministries with soccer camps and a ministry for the street boys.
1:49
I'm grateful for Brad's friendship and all his encouragement.
1:53
Today is day 16 of the Soccer Chaplains United World Cup prayer journey, and Senegal squares off against Iraq.
5:37
Maybe it's someone at your church, your school, someone on your team, a supporter, or maybe you want to become a donor and help Soccer Chaplains United take better care of people in the beautiful game.
9:50
We
9:50
looked into that.
9:53
doing 506C investments for just our accredited members.
9:57
And it was not practical.
10:00
The accreditation process for the joint LLC itself was not practical.
10:05
That being said, as we've grown, the way we've approached this is we've gotten to the size where we can now go to operators who normally only allow accredited investors and say, hey, we're investing 400 to 800 grand at a pop.
10:22
Typically, We are interested in what you guys are doing.
14:03
Once or twice a
11:30
Lots of ducks
11:30
... we're learning about these things, you know, and, and I guess, you know, we, we talk about habitat and, and trees and corn and all these hot topics nowadays, and I tell people, I'm like, "Think about the last 30 to 50 years and all the research that has gone on into natural waterfowl habitat, and think about how much we know." And back then, you know, they were growing standing flooded corn.
11:57
I mean, we knew ducks like smartweed and millet, you know, the typical moist soil kind of things.
12:03
But I think spaceUm, larger wetlands, the better and the more shallow water, the better, you know, managing everything from mud flat to six inches of water.
12:13
Um, there's been a shift, you know, through time from everybody leaving in a 25 horse in a John boat in hunting water.
12:21
That's, you know, thigh deep, which greenling teal and pintails don't feed in.
12:26
We've made transitions from that to realizing that, Hey, you know, some of these ducks need 10 inches of water or less, you know? So, so through time you make those observations, you hunt birds in there.
