story? The process I settled on which seemed to work the best for me was starting with a story just in very broad emotional terms.

is, you know, the character, it's sort of a coming-of-age story kind of thing, so the character starts off with all these dreams of, like, going into outer space, and then she actually gets a job on a spaceship, and she kind of has her dreams, not squashed, but just sort of made a little more mundane.

And then she learns to, you know, embrace the mundanity of this, and it's just a very, very broad outline that you could use for anything, really.
