like i wrote the book lord he's like

this is your life like this is it for us but i think um one of the things i would say is like community right but intentional community.

So there was a season, like when I quit my job, like I, I couldn't, this is going to sound bad and I'm not telling you not to talk to your parents, but for a lot, I had to limit how much I talked to my parents because they are my parents and they wanted to protect me.

So they're speaking from a practical place.

And most of the things I was doing did not make sense.

Like, why would you quit a job? That doesn't make sense without another job to go to.

Like my parents are boomers.

Or taking that first step.

Hmm.

And so I went to grad school at Syracuse.

I studied television, radio, and film, and then I moved to LA thinking that that was gonna be, um, what I did.

The Lord let me do it for a little while.

Um, and then when I turned about 30, I started, uh, on church at a s- on staff at a church, and then I started preaching.

And then I feel like from there, my life just became all about, like, full-time ministry, traveling, podcasting.

the pride, it will be our downfall.

Oh, 100%.

Would you just pray over all of us?

Yes.

Oh, Lord, first, thank you for pulling up a seat at this table with us and meeting us here.

God, I pray for every person under the sound of my voice, that even in hearing this conversation, God, that there would be a hunger and a thirst that is birthed in their hearts, that is ignited in their hearts just to commune with you.

God, what greater gift could we have that our creator desires not a moment, not just a season, but desires to be with us, to live with us, to walk with us, to dwell.

Uh, God, for the person who's like, "I don't even know where to begin," God, would you teach us all how to abide, what it means to remain in you?

Yes.

To gaze upon your beauty.

What else?

Um, what else? I think [clears throat] I'm in a better place this year, but last year was really tough.

I feel like I made a step of obedience and became really bold about a decision I made to denounce the sorority I was a part of.

And I was just... [audience applauding] I was just being...

I was just saying yes.

Like, like, not like, yes, and I'ma go get the whole world.

It was my own personal business.

Like, in real time.
