doesn't know anything about the Garvahy Road or anything that's happening here at the minute or that has happened in the past, would you be able to give us a bit of a summary to get us started?

Well, it depends on how much of a summary you want.

But I think it's important to point out that just outside this town is the birthplace of the Orange Order itself as an organization.

And

even the timing of the founding of that

organization

is very important.

Why do you think the Orange Order have been so insistent on walking down the Garbahay Road?

What's your expectation of what's going to happen this week?

Well, I think even before we start about expectations, I think it's only right that I remind your listeners that 21 people died as a result of Plum Cree between 1996 and 1999.

That included local people from our own community, including Robert Hommel, He was beaten to death by a loyalist gang in Port of Downtown Centre.

And it also includes our late legal representative, Rosemary Nelson.

He was murdered by persons acting in support of the Orange Order at Throne Creek.

So, you know, it brings back a lot of memories to people in this area.

They're not nice memories, they're horrific memories.

Is the division that existed then, when I spoke to you back in 1998, is it still as prominent today or are relations any better with the communities there?
