Tell us about where you came from and we'll get to the point where you met Biddy and then we'll talk about where Biddy came from to get there.

So yeah, grew up in the Manawatu on a 200 cow farm, sort of worked on the farm, worked on the neighbour's farm in high school years and then decided to leave the country when I was about 17 or 18.

So did my travel very early and when I was overseas, if I was in town, I was a brickies labourer or something like that and then if I was out in the country, I'd be working on a arable farm dairy farm ended up on a dairy farm in Canada so it was pretty good and decided to come home and get into dairy farming at home come down to the South Island a mate offered me a job and sort of thought get away from the Manawatu so it felt like I was still overseas in the South Island I guess and then Yeah, stayed with them for three years and then went managing for a year and then we went contract milking together.

And we stayed contract milking for, what was it, five years and then got the opportunity to go 50-50 and it was five years 50-50.

8 MINS LATER

But do you see those two systems as a way for you guys going forward as well, something you would entertain in terms of having a contract milker or a share milker?
25:42
Definitely I think because we've had those opportunities like even that first contract milking job that was huge you know we were I think when like from memory I think we just wanted to go from you know being self-employed going from manager to being self-employed and That was the only job that was offered to us that season, contract milking role.

And for him to take a chance on us, that owner, kudos to him.

We were... very green, fresh, going into that and probably not worked on, worked on large scale farms, but not to that degree with two sheds and that many staff.
