well let's go ahead and project it's already Thursday late in the week is Ole Miss defense in position to extend the Texas offense misery
26:13
Well, the thing that looks out to me is the things, the intangibles outside of the playing field just do not set up well for Ole Miss.
26:22
I knew coming into the season that the game on the road at Texas, which Texas at one point, one of the top ranked teams in the country, beating Ohio State, going on the road and beating Tennessee.
26:32
And then, of course, we've seen a different Texas over the last couple of weeks.
26:36
I've been very steadfast that the team with the coach at the back against the wall is not the team you want to mess with.
26:42
Ole Miss is going to have to do that this weekend on the road.
26:44
It's Texas, Steve Sarkeesian.
27:57
Is that the defense's realizing, all right, we keep getting burned by Trinidad running the ball, or have they just figured out how to block it up better? Because those two numbers are not supposed to go together in a conference like the SEC.
14:29
It feels like, I don't know, people are making flash judgments of what went down, but it definitely feels like there was an LSU letdown.
14:40
I don't think there's any doubt.
14:41
I mean, Pete talked about how he wanted it to be that this wasn't the Super Bowl for the team and then how that he understands the significance of the LSU game, but it was time to move on to Florida.
14:51
He may have felt that way, but obviously the players did not.
14:55
And they felt it was the Super Bowl.
14:57
They won the Super Bowl, but there was a game next and they did not show up in Gainesville.
15:02
And it was a combination of a lot of things.

10 MINS LATER

24:55
it was flipped to where you go down to Gainesville and beat Florida and you lose to LSU, it would not be as sweet.
34:06
Just talk about how big of a win it was for Ole Miss to come out victorious.
34:11
Yeah, you know, it was a really big win for a lot of different ways.
34:14
And one thing that Ben Garrett and I talked about on the Talk of Champions is now the good news is it's about in between the lines.
34:21
It's about football.
34:22
It's not about all the other stuff.
34:23
And so, sure, I mean, it was big for Ole Miss to get the win, to kind of exercise some demons with Lane Kiffin.
34:29
But now you can kind of focus in just on football.
37:04
Do you think that the offense is still explosive as it was under those guys with John David Baker now?
2:37
Brad, I'm, I'm curious, just with the departure of, of Lane Kiffin and now it's Pete's show and running fall camp, any nuances, any things you've been able to pick up on that are different this year and, and, and very noticeable?
2:49
Well, one thing that, that, that I noticed is, is being able to hear from John David Baker, the offensive coordinator who...
2:56
And look, I mean, Pete was very open to the fact that Joe Judge, who, who we all know was a part of the NFL and has been a very vibrant part of this Ole Miss offense over the last couple of years, he is essentially running the offense with John David Baker coming in.
3:11
And, and John David Baker was very open with the media when he said, "Hey, I, I'm not coming in here trying to turn everything upside down with Trinidad Chambliss, Keyuan Lacy, Deuce Alexander, the wide receiver.
3:22
I'm just trying to tweak a couple of things here and there." And I'm sure he's working in concert with Joe Judge because the relationship that everyone needs to pay attention to is Joe Judge and Trinidad Chambliss, the Ole Miss quarterback.
3:33
That, that's kind of where the hay was made.
3:36
And when Lane went off to, um, or when he was not allowed to coach the College Football Playoff, he would eventually take the job at LSU.
6:31
Sure.
3:07
Brad, I'm, I'm curious, just with the departure of, of Lane Kiffin and now it's Pete's show and running fall camp, any nuances, any things you've been able to pick up on that are different this year and, and, and very noticeable?
3:19
Well, one thing that, that, that I noticed is, is being able to hear from John David Baker, the offensive coordinator who ...
3:26
And look, I mean, Pete was very open to the fact that Joe Judge, who, who we all know was a part of the NFL and has been a very vibrant part of this Ole Miss offense over the last couple of years, he is essentially running the offense with John David Baker coming in.

I'm just trying to tweak a couple of things here and there." And I'm sure he's working in concert with Joe Judge because the relationship that everyone needs to pay attention to is Joe Judge and Trinidad Chambliss, the Ole Miss quarterback.
4:03
That, that's kind of where the hay was made.
4:06
And when Lane went off to, um, when he was not allowed to coach the College Football Playoff, he would eventually take the job at LSU, all the points kind of, the light kind of shined on Joe Judge because sure, I mean, Charlie Weis Jr. is kind of in and out of the facility, but once Charlie Weis made the decision to get on the plane with Lane, that separation kind of began, and rightfully so.
7:01
Sure.
9:43
Dabo
9:43
...
9:43
Dabo and, uh, and Clemson, so I think that's big.
9:46
Uh, truly I believe the defense is, is going to be successful because of the defensive line, honestly.
9:52
Cam Franklin, out of Lake Comer in high school in Mississippi is, is someone that anchored, has anchored that line along with, with, uh, William Echols, the, uh, the product out of Houston, Mississippi.
10:02
I think William Echols may be the best football player on the team.
10:06
I mean, he's that athletic, and he's big in the community.
13:51
Yeah.
5:11
Uh, just talk about that concentration, especially the interior of the line there.
5:15
Yeah, man, the, the funny part about that is, is, is Mitchell Turner is out of Louisville, Mississippi, Ben Jarvis Shoemaker out of Ackerman, Mississippi.
5:23
Normally big Mississippi State strongholds, and Ole Miss has done a great job of going into those areas and, and picking some really good talent.
5:30
Ole Miss had Caleb Cunningham a couple years ago, the top player in Mississippi out of Ackerman.
5:35
That's only about an hour from Starkville.
5:37
And then I'd throw in another name, Antonio Berry, a six-five offensive lineman, uh, out of Tupelo, Mississippi, another four-star product.
5:45
So that's another really Mississippi State town, if you will.
10:29
Am I, am I too as-assumptive there or, or is that okay?
24:34
Um, how is it with Pete Golding as the program, he is the rudder, he is the, the, the vein of this?
24:42
Yeah, you know, when we were, we were, we were live on location whenever everything happened on that Sunday afternoon, you were kind of talking about the transition.
24:49
I thought, I think I told you here on the show, that he was going to be the interim coach, my opinion, and then just kind of transition to figure out what to do after the playoff.
24:57
And then, you know, that's why I'm not the athletic director and Keith Carter is.
25:00
He made the right call.
25:01
It was a great transition and, uh, you know, not really-- I, I knew Pete from back when he played at Delta State, me being a Delta State guy.
25:09
I remember him being in the graduate system, you know, kind of followed his coaching career from afar, and obviously coaching under Saban, working with Frank Wilson and so forth.
28:54
What's ahead in 2027, or '26?
