Before we get into really what Mid-South Lions is and everything about that, tell me, Brad, about what you think, why Lions Clubs is so important and why people should be joining Lions Clubs.

Well, frankly, Dave, let me say that I don't understand why everybody's not a Lion.

Because anybody with an idea of wanting to do any kind of community service could join the Lions Club and we could find a way to assist them in whatever their particular service area is, whether it's vision screening or Little League baseball or scouting or just about anything, picking up trash or pickleball or just whatever it is.

And I'm not talking about fundraisers necessarily.

I'm talking about when we ask people to join today, I would say what we do is we don't say what Lions do.

We ask, what do you do? What do you like to do? What would you think is good for our community today? And if they say, well, I think we ought to start a chess club, then say, well, get a couple of your friends and come on into the Lions Club and let's see what we can do about starting a chess club.

And so I think the way Lions treat service, which is unlimited, we don't limit ourselves to we're only going to do this.

Yes.

In what area, in what areas of my life am I caving in to the expectation of other people? In what areas am I doing what I know is wrong in order to win the approval or to avoid the rejection of other people?

The fourth reason that trying to please everybody is such a trap is that it causes hypocrisy in our lives.

And when hypocrisy invades our lives, we start to wear masks.

We become chameleons.

We adapt to our environment.

And few things are as exhausting as trying to figure out what mask you're trying to wear in front of which people in which context.

It's completely and entirely exhausting.

To be honest, I've been aware of my issues from day dot.

I've got a massive addictive personality, so now I'm addicted to the gym.

Like, I've just swapped one addiction for another kind of thing.

I guess it's a healthy addiction.

Um, but I've always had that addictive quality.

Once I get going, I just wanna keep going.
