So my kids, you know, you never know.

Parents can either over-claim what they did with their kids or under-claim it, and you just got to be careful about that.

But I will say that both of my kids entered into and lived out their 20s, you know, and beyond.

They're devoted to Jesus.

And it's interesting that even though they were good kids, they would still not want to have devotionals.

I can remember, no, Daddy, no.

You know.

Yeah.

So you go from the historical Jesus gives his teaching to the apostles.

He promised that the Holy Spirit would be with them.

The early church in the, in the first day, the birthday of the church in Acts 2, they're focused on the apostles' teaching, and then everything there rolls from the authority of the apostles.

Uh, I can give you multiple quotes about that.

Uh, you even have in the New Testament itself where the apostles' teaching, uh, is considered, like Paul refers to Peter's writings as scripture.

Or there's a part of Luke that's referred to early on as scripture.

Mm-hmm.

It is now inaugurated, right? What about the new covenant?

Even Jesus himself said that, you know, people long to know these things that he was sharing with his disciples.

It's kind of like everything's now the mysteries, the things we didn't know.

Mystery in the Bible, by the way, is not... you know, twilight zone.

It wasn't known before.

So now we know, now we know the fullness of who would have ever anticipated that God himself would become a human being to live among us, to love us, to show us how to not only interpret the law, but how to live out the law, how to fully love God and love people.

And then that he would die on the cross.

Bobby, anything you would add on?

What would you say to someone or how would you coach a parent through answering the question if- Someone had the question, are we still bound by the Old Testament laws like the Ten Commandments now that we follow Jesus? What would you say?

This is a really important question because I think some people think that we are not bound by the Old Testament, and it's a overstatement to say that.

We're not bound in a saving sense to the Old Testament, but the Old Testament teachings and commandments properly understood through the light of Jesus are actually binding on us.

So if I can, I'd like to read from Ephesians chapter 2, where Paul's actually addressing this question.

It's Ephesians 2:14-18.

If you're watching, it's, it's gonna be on the screen, but I'm going to read it for everybody who's driving around and, and just listening to this podcast.

So Ephesians is going to address in chapter 2 the question of how can Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians come together, or how can people with a Gentile background and a Jewish background come together and, and be united in Christ? Now, I want to say this.

God is fair, God is just and love, but God is not life.

Like, things happen in life- Because it is a testing and trial period that even God Himself didn't want for human beings.

I mean, the whole story of the, uh, creation account with Genesis is He did not want Adam and Eve to ingest the knowledge of good and evil so that we as human beings would live this life, uh, where these trials and difficulties and sometimes really hard things happen.

This past Sunday, for example, uh, there's a dearly beloved, uh, member of our church, uh, who suddenly died.

Mm.

Mm-hmm.

Why was he different from anything else that you were offered to believe in and how you came to faith?

Our plan, by the way, everyone, is I'm just gonna explain how I came to faith in Jesus as an adult.

And then Anthony's gonna talk about his journey.

And then we're going to, as Anthony said, we're gonna dive into that question of what did Jesus think about scripture? How do we know Jesus thought that? And we think that's the best entry point for our conversation about scripture.

So I'm gonna start by going back to how I made a decision to trust and follow Jesus.

I grew up in...

in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where I grew up, like in my high school, I knew it was a high school of 2100.

And I knew three people that went to church.

So my experience was very much in a non-believing environment.
