Discussions around mediumship or communication with the other side or even the afterlife were strictly forbidden.

And every time either I or my wife brought up the subject of life after death, the moderator would shut us down by saying, "This is not the purpose of the group.
4:59
We don't talk about such things.
5:01
Our purpose is only to teach you ways of coping with the loss." And, you know, we thought that was really odd because frankly, everybody in the group, that's all they wanted to talk about 'cause what could give you any more comfort than knowing or believing that your child still existed in some form? It was in New York at the time in the middle of the winter, and we used to stand outside in the parking lot at, you know, 15 degrees [laughs] and, and talking for an hour with the parents.
5:28
And I saw a glimmer in their eyes, and we were sharing some stories and experiences.
5:33
Then we started to think, "Well, there has to be some sort of a forum where people can feel free to talk about their experiences and what they learned without the fear of being judged or labeled or crazy or th- this is just a product of your grief." And that's one of the things that led us to form our organization, Forever Family Foundation.
7:06
In addition to extensive academic research, direct personal experience had the most impact on Bob's journey.
7:12
I went to a few mediums, even though I didn't believe in mediums, but my wife dragged me to [laughs] to a couple.
11:37
That's right.
11:39
And you know what? Just going back to what you said before, there were two very important points.
11:43
One, I think what we fear is the finality of death because that's the way we're brought up.
11:50
And if you come to – more than believe, if you come to know that death is not final, that it's just a transition to another realm, that can make your life a lot easier to live.
12:01
And the other point you made, which we just saw in a couple weeks ago, we had a grief retreat for parents only, which we didn't at the time that you started coming to the retreats.
12:16
And that's the most amazing thing because here were the, I think there were 52 people there and none of them have ever been in an environment and they probably never will again, where every single person at the retreat knows, truly knows how they feel.
12:34
And that more than anything else that we could provide was cathartic in a sense, you know, I'm not crazy.

That's why I'm asking you this question.
