And, and your figures, what, what, what are they gonna go into eventually? The, the Snipe project, what, what is it going to, uh, how, how, how is it gonna help the argument about shooting, do you think?
6:15
Well, I think- What we want is to learn more, uh, once, as I said, about where our overwintering birds are going, because this is obviously the, the, the season where snipe are allowed to be shot.
6:25
So we need to figure out basically what proportions are wintering here versus those which are resident, because not all of the ta- snipe that we've tagged end up leaving, so there are some which are resident.
6:37
Um, but also it'll help us get a much better understanding of in- factors which might be influencing migration, uh, and also where the other sort of important areas along their flyway which are, will need conserving, um, in the future.
7:20
Is it a good start?
7:22
Well, again, it's, the diet is an important factor.
7:24
When it comes to breeding birds, at least, diet is really important, and that comes from habitat, having good quality habitat.
7:32
Um, so things like cattle can be really good, so lots of cattle grazing.
