I think I'll start with how I got started so that everybody has a sense for the personal where this comes from.

As a teenager, was addicted to drugs and alcohol, and that became my coping mechanism for my own trauma and the pain that I experienced growing up.

And around the age of 17, I basically sabotaged everything that I cared about, loved, and identified with.

I was coming home from a party when I was 17, and I was on a bunch of Xanax and cannabis and liquor- And I got to a freight train in the middle of the night and I couldn't keep my eyes open.

And so I was delirious, and I put my car in park, thankfully, and I put my head back and I fell asleep on the road in front of the guardrails of the train tracks, and I woke up to police knocking on the window.
