I'm a
31:43
nine-year-old, 10-year-old boy watching a grown man punch a woman in the face repeatedly.
31:48
Right.
31:49
Come home and take advantage of her.
31:50
My older brother, Joey, from my dad, not the same one we were talking about earlier, but he would have to pull him off of a couple of times.
31:56
Right.
31:56
And so, you know, he suffered with drugs and alcoholism and all of that.

40:40
happens to you in December?
7:40
Talk to listeners a little bit about that process and what that really taught you that you ultimately still utilize today.
7:47
Yeah, I love it, right? So like I said, in 2000, I joined the Navy, went to boot camp.
7:54
Because I had my GED already and a little bit of technical education and a culinary program, they allowed me to come in as an E2, right? Gave me credit for what I had already done.
8:06
And then in boot camp, you know...
8:09
I'm motivated by the carrot, if you will, right? If you tell me that all I have to do is this in order to achieve this, it's going to be hard-pressed to find somebody to beat me out of that, right? I'm just very determined, always have been.
8:23
So they said, hey, if you do X, Y, and Z, a small percentage will be promoted to E3 before you even graduate boot camp.
8:31
I leaned into what all of those things were, did X, Y, and Z.

17:16
But talk about how you got your start there and how all that stuff started to come together and unfold for you from the softball perspective.
9:32
There's certain, you know, I guess, for lack of a better term, like operating systems or check, this might be a bad word or things that, you know, small and simple steps that people can, you know, kind of implement to first start out.
9:43
Sure.
9:44
I mean, look, I wrote a whole program and a whole profile about it called 60 for me, right? It's 60 minutes a day in order for you to be able to focus on being the very best version of yourself, right? So the 60 for me program has evolved over the last six years.
10:01
It started by chance.
10:04
I told you I got out of the Navy in 2016.
10:07
When I got out of the Navy, I went through a deep kind of silent depression, what I call moving positive in the wrong direction.
10:15
Meaning I was doing good things.

Being in sports, working in sports, obviously with yourself coaching and working around thousands of athletes and families, I feel like we're seeing a lot of, I don't know, not bad parenting, but kind of where do parents get it wrong as far as developing athletes, coaching from the stands, that whole aspect.
