I would say I'm very much the unexpected politician and unexpected path.

I grew up in a family that I was an only child.

My mom worked for the Amalgamated Transit Union.

My dad did commercial real estate and was an accountant.

So he was very much kind of business focused, business minded, probably more right leaning.

My mom worked for the labor union and was very much more on workers' rights and protecting human rights.

So the big question is, why is the General Assembly convening a special session next week?

And I mean, their argument is, you know, eh, why not try? Why not get caught trying? Eh, what do you say to that?

Yeah, look, and, uh, Jamie and I served together in the state senate, um, for, uh, six years.

I, I, you know, have enormous respect for him and, you know, we've spoken a number of times about this issue in particular.

We have a different, um, a, a different calculus of the risk, uh, and mine comes from the experience that we had in 2021.

And when you go back in 2021 when we were looking at other states that were doing political gerrymandering and we knew that the Supreme Court had said in 2019 that it was permissible for states to politically jerem- gerrymander, we did a whole process.

We dotted every I, we crossed every T.

At the time, both, um, I, you know, everyone wanted to make the first district, uh, a, a more competitive district, and I felt a little bit uncomfortable.
