and i wanted to kind of talk about your wildcatter oil explorer i want to talk about all the alaska stuff but tell me you're in yourself i mean from what i understand you're self-made right you didn't grow up with money or you kind of made all this money by by working hard and taking some big risks

yeah it came out of uh i did come out of the oil patch my dad uh was a geologist and independent geologist and Abilene, Texas of all places.
2:28
And so I did hear about it growing up around the dinner table, which by the way, you can't underestimate how important that is because the oil business is so volatile, you know, with the price of oil going up and down that you kind of have to have real love of the game and you have to be not afraid of the idea that all of a sudden you wake up and your price is half what it was literally a few months ago.

And so being around the dinner table and hearing about growing up here, that really helped.

I went to SMU in Dallas, Texas, and I was very fortunate that I knew absolutely what I wanted to do with my career because I had heard so many stories and I met so many of these iconoclastic kind of wildcatters.
3:16
as a kid, I would caddy for them and, you know, whatever, mow their lawns and other stuff.
3:20
And, you know, like you've heard of Boone Pickens.
