Why don't we amplify that a little bit? How did that go? Is your family or did you know people in the government that you could approach? Or did you just basically go online and find an agency in the government that might help you?

Betty LuGUEST
Yeah, firstly, just to touch on the first subject, you know, there's a huge epidemic of food waste in the system because the food system, you know, I researched about you, you live, you know, in a place where there's so much agriculture, you know, the food system is imperfect and it's very flawed.

Betty LuGUEST
There are so many things that if it's lightly blemished or if it's in perfect shape or even if a carrot is too big or too small, it gets thrown away or discarded as B-grade product and they are not in the supermarket.

Betty LuGUEST
So they are thrown away even though they are good to eat, they are delicious, you know, and perishables have such a short shelf life of one week.

Betty LuGUEST
So if there's any way to filter that out, you know, be it a crop surplus or imperfect foods, you know, if we can take these misfits and upcycle them to something delicious, much longer shelf life of a year, and provide the nutrients in such a way that is gently cooked and inspire people.

The company's year-over-year growth has averaged more than 300% since its founding in 2018.

Betty LuGUEST
Why is 95% of our snack industry potato chips [laughs] and extruded corn puffs, which are nutritionally bankrupt? There must be a better way to do this.

Betty LuGUEST
There are literally hundreds and thousands of fruits and veggies in this world that taste better than a potato chip.

Betty LuGUEST
What if we can take all these amazing exotic fruits and veggies and make them taste even better than a potato chip in terms of mouth feel, texture, nutrient density, and, you know, really, really create a fun, adventurous, magical experience? One third of edible produce are thrown away every year due to crop surpluses that farms can't sell or, you know, imperfect foods.

Betty LuGUEST
When you walk into any supermarket, you know, every apple is exactly the same size.

Betty LuGUEST
Something that is too small or too big get rejected purely due to aesthetic reasons, not because they are not good to eat or they are not ripe or they are not healthy.
