Ohio State Representative

7:14
Sorry that took almost the whole segment, but, uh, wanna get your take on keeping good company and how being good company amidst company that we don't really have a choice to be with matters.
7:27
Wow.
7:28
So that verse is a verse that has been on my heart and mind for, like, a year and a half, and I think because when you're in politics, and I'm just gonna say especially on the Republican side, you get a lot of people who say they're Christian, because it's almost impossible for a Republican to run without being one.
7:50
They can share our values.
7:52
The Vake shares my values, and I love that, and that's why I'm supporting him.
7:58
But you also have people that just want power-
8:01
Mm
8:01
... and so they say that they're something they're not.
2:10
[exhales]
2:13
Um, my greatest concern for voters, and it, it goes into this fall election too, you have so many outside entities that are involved.
2:22
Uh, you get commercials, uh, that are funded by these PACs.
2:25
You get mail.
2:27
You get radio.
2:29
Look at the bottom line.
2:31
Always look at the bottom line.
4:05
Whose line are you buying, right? Uh, so what do they want? I, I mean, do they want iGaming, online casinos, iLottery? What are they after here?
2:20
Why did you do it? What's in it?
2:23
House Bill 971.
2:25
Thanks for bringing it up because Representative Jonathan Newman and I felt it was very important to continue what some of our colleagues began earlier this year, which is to try to rein in online gambling.
2:44
And it's important that we're exposing what this is right now because this issue, believe it or not, has something to do with the gubernatorial campaign.
2:56
So the Cleveland Plain Dealer actually has Amy Acton on the record supporting expanding online gambling because some politicians want revenue.
3:09
And frankly, I never met a Democrat who didn't want to expand the amount of money that was coming into the state because they want more programs so they can keep their people on the reservation.
3:22
This is such a dangerous direction to go when we rely on taxes.
5:55
But the other thing that's interesting is, I guess the question I'd want to ask Amy Acton, which she would never answer because she won't let me ask it, is if you're about affordability, then why would you back gambling? Because gambling to me is the antithesis of affordability, and it preys on people who can't do math, who can't understand that the house always wins.
3:39
[sighs]
3:39
...
3:39
the minority, former minority leader of the House, out of the secretary of state's office.
3:44
If you want election integrity and you vote Democrat this fall, you are asking for nothing but what Kamala Harris refers to as the tools that the Trump administration is trying to take from them.
3:57
50 years' worth of cheating and shenanigans.
4:00
We don't want that in our secretary of state, and Robert Sprague will do a great job.
4:05
And of course, we need Husted.
7:03
Let's talk about that, yeah
4:15
I'll get your reaction to some of that.
4:17
No, I completely agree with you.
4:18
And I was thinking about the fact that, you know, folks voted for President Trump initially because he was a businessman, and a successful businessman.
4:27
When you're in business, not everything you do is done perfectly, but if you're able to go from nothing to a million or a billion dollars, you understand how things work, especially economics.
4:40
Boy, do we need that in Ohio.
4:42
And we're seeing a lot of successes since we've had good Republican leadership at the top in DC.
4:49
We want to keep that going, and having a Trump-like person, Vivek, a successful businessman, who's enthusiastic about bringing Ohio back, it's a beautiful picture, and it gives me great hope if Ohioans go out and vote.
7:06
Yes.
2:03
Uh, we all realized this was the right thing to do, especially in light of the fact that through good fiscal stewardship and leadership, we were able to afford to do it without sacrificing our road projects and, and it was an easy decision to make on behalf of Ohioans.
2:19
Thank you so much, President McCully.
2:21
I mean, I've, I've heard some complaints, right, that you did this as an election year stunt, and as you've already stated, we had legislation ready to go.
2:32
Yep.
2:33
We had this conversation back in June.
2:36
But it's thanks to the leadership of Vivek and you that we were able to push this across the finish line, so I just wanna say thank you publicly.
2:45
And I'm wondering if we can switch to property taxes now.
2:48
You know, the situation, uh, your chamber, the House, we've been working on trying to provide property tax relief for months.
5:39
[upbeat music] We'll talk about how close this race is and why it is so important, but I want to get your take on Senator Jon Husted really speaking the truth to the people of the Mahoning Valley who've lived it.
5:52
Yeah, he has been doing an amazing job in the US Senate, is a great partner with Bernie Moreno.
5:59
Ohio might be- The most blessed state in the union with those two going side by side, and I love the announcement about the submarine plant that's gonna be going into Cleveland-
9:39
What can you give us? Have you heard anything beyond what I just shared regarding Representative Ilhan Omar?
9:45
I did see something on X, uh, allegedly from Fox News, that the investigations have expanded beyond DC.
9:54
They're looking at a state-level Democrat senator in, I think, New Jersey perhaps, or Virginia, that this is broader than we think, and it's RICO-related.
10:05
And if I might add, Ilhan Omar is a projector.
10:11
Everything she's accusing the president of, her party has been doing since he walked down the escalator.
