Brad HowardHOST
So what committees do you serve on, and did you ask for these assignments, or did they find you? And what does each of these committees actually do, and how does it impact the local resident? Sure.
Beth HelfrichGUEST
So I serve on the Appropriations Committee, which is ultimately the largest committee in the House, and we hear budget bills.
Beth HelfrichGUEST
I serve on the Subcommittee of Appropriations, and I serve on the Transportation Subcommittee.
Beth HelfrichGUEST
So the work of that committee is largely just a multi-week debrief and update from the Department of Transportation about all of the spending, where things are.
Beth HelfrichGUEST
This particular session was especially interesting and valuable because of the impact of Hurricane Helene and what that did to our transportation budget and how the state was working to try to mitigate and rebuild and where that was coming from and what that would mean for future projects.
Beth HelfrichGUEST
Um, and then I serve on the higher education committee and we, we hear bills that impact the higher, the landscape of higher ed in North Carolina, which is a really exciting landscape.
