Let's solve large problems and bring everyone to bear.
12:03
Yeah, and I think it's not just climate sciences as well.
12:07
I think you get this in other disciplines.
12:10
So to give a concrete example of a paper that we worked on that came out last year that led to quite a lot of not just media interest, but also... government interest and other work that's developed from it.
12:26
This is work with an economist colleague, Tim Neal, who's in the School of Economics but also sits in ICRI, the Institute for Climate Risk and Response, and Andy Pittman, who's a very well-known climate scientist who led two centers of excellence and And Tim and Andy and I worked on a project that largely came from work that Tim had done, which was looking at economic impacts of climate change and looking at the way that economists think about changes in global temperature and the impact that it then has on economics.
13:01
And it was a very interesting process in distilling, if you like, the...
13:09
the econometrics and the difficult parts of doing the economic modelling into a message that Andy and I felt was really capturing and Tim so Tim came to us with this is the big project this is the way we've done it but there's lots of different things here that for an audience that we were trying to get to was sort of too much, too much in the weeds.

I mean, more generally, how do you tell when you've done a good job?
BearHOST

Yeah

And then I got really into houseplants and growing succulents and growing herbs.
9:01
And terrarium building was, I don't know, it like, I didn't, it didn't, like, immediately hook me in, but I did find the whole concept of a terrarium fascinating.

That should be illegal.
19:10
illegal.Yeah.
21:27
How big a part of this transition is reliant on EV demand and supply?
21:35
I think it's a huge part of it, and I think the fact that, you know, we've seen petrol prices go up and up and almost 50% over the last few months, it's, you know, no surprise that EV sales are going up.
21:46
We're, we're seeing EV sales at all-time high.
21:48
Secondhand sales have doubled in the last month, and I think that that is, it is providing the kind of trigger to people who might have been considering changing their car, um, over time.
21:59
And we've, you know, we've seen research showing that people are resistant.
22:02
They have a bit of anxiety about range.
22:04
They have a bit of anxiety about how the car works.
22:46
So coming into this conference in Colombia next week, what, what countries are most eyeing off an end to fossil fuels and, and why?
