So I wanna ask both of you, starting with you, Senator Cardin, how would you handle the situation right now in Iran? Given where we are at this moment, what would you as a lawmaker do or want to happen?
B

Well, I think there's agreement among Democrats and Republicans and the American people that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, that they're, the way that they act, it's too dangerous to the region and the world for them to have that type of capacity to be able to use a nuclear device.
B
5:45Ben CardinGUEST
Under the Iran agreement, nuclear agreement, uh, negotiated by President Obama, there was at least a 10-month or year window before Iran could break out, and we had inspectors on the ground and we had some advance notice.President Trump withdrew from that agreement and instead used military force in order to reduce the capacity for Iran to quickly, uh, compile a nuclear weapon.
B

Iran has the knowledge and capacity to rebuild, if it wishes to rebuild a nuclear weapon, and certainly looks like they do.

So the objective here has to be to have an enforceable agreement, an enforceable agreement where Iran says, and they said this in the past, that they have no, uh, desire to have a nuclear weapon.
Lisa DesjardinsHOST
But it was still President Trump's initiative, I guess you could say, that really triggered them into this step.
