What did you want people to understand when they watched it? And what about this experience surprised you as you were making it?
4:09
Yeah, great question.
4:10
I think so.
4:11
What we wanted to do with this piece is kind of show what is at stake here when we're talking about and actually when we're seeing ALPR systems get placed all around the country.
4:26
Right.
4:27
And for folks who haven't watched the piece, it's just a few minutes long.
4:31
Um, but you're going to see a lot of, uh, shots where people are simply going about their daily lives.

What does all of this mean for you when you were looking and sifting through all this data?
17:36
Pretty
17:37
much knew that the next person's case was going to get dismissed, which means that the door to an expedited removal would be opened, which basically means that's when ICE or DHS was taking people, right? So I was sitting in the hallway, the doors open, the doors of the courtroom opened and two women walk out and they're visibly upset and they're frantic because their friend is inside getting their case dismissed.
18:10
And they're even asking him like, is there anything we can do? Ice agents were just right there, like 10 feet away from us.
18:19
Like, and they were watching that the two women were, the friends of, you know, the woman who was about to get taken and the woman walks out, she is surrounded by ice agents and they grab her and I'm filming the whole thing.
18:36
And, you know, I'm keeping my distance.
18:37
I'm not confronting or saying, I'm actually not saying anything.
18:41
I'm just, I'm there as an observer.

How did you get the story and what was it like to cover it?
