And finally, after all the 100 years now, I think Mary Brickell particularly is really going to be someone that the people of not just Miami but Florida can be proud of because she really founded a city.

As a descendant of William and Mary Brickell, B. Brickell is pleased to see their story documented.

It was fantastic when I received a cold call from Cesar, because while we had told stories in our family, it was kind of understood that, well, that had all been forgotten.

A lot of the good things that Mary and William had done didn't matter anymore.

Julia Tuttle was getting all the press.

So I received a cold call from him and he wanted to come and visit me in South Carolina.

And for some reason, I just liked the sound of his voice.
