In the last few days, in light of where things have fallen with police, Barry has told me he's going to do another final search.
24:05
I estimate the search costed ten thousand dollars.
24:08
Once I've knocked that out, I've pretty much done everything I can do.
24:29
Barry started investigating his niece's disappearance during COVID, and he's not super impressed with how things were handled.
24:37
I think, um, the, the investigation by the police on the, in Western Australia is, uh, was not thorough, and they jumped to conclusions a bit too much.
24:48
I found a lot of things that were missed.
24:51
Primarily, uh, they didn't, uh, interview the prisoners or the prison officer at all in both investigations.
25:00
So I put one email and one phone call from the other side of the country to speak to the prison officer and got the correct coordinates of the, uh, where the prisoners were.
18:32
It's not long before their boots and clothes are heavy with mud.
18:38
It's so thick that in places you couldn't push through it, so you actually had to get down on your hands and knees and push the, the bush apart to be able to get through, like tunnel through underneath it.
18:49
Um, and then probably every maybe 15, 20 meters you might find a, a little clear patch that might be two or three meters round where you could actually stand up and have a look around to work out where you were gonna go to next.
22:13
But there's something they didn't know when those cadaver dogs picked up that scent.
22:18
The area where the dogs were indicating, there was a edge of an erosion channel there which had water that was ground water coming from higher on the hill and seeping down over that.
22:31
Sometimes that scenario can happen where the dogs might be 100 meters from where the burial might be, but they're picking up the scent of the, um, smells coming through the water table under the ground and coming out onto the surface again.
