It can just be a little bit of a trickle, where you start to reflect on, "I'm missing out on X, Y, and Z." And my daughter was quite young, and I just felt I wasn't as present as I could've been there.

Baasit SiddiquiGUEST
And I started to reflect on that and thought, "Okay, what else is there that I could go out and do?" So handed my notice in, didn't have any intention of what I was gonna do next.

Baasit SiddiquiGUEST
I've got to remind myself that I'm 20 years into this now and you develop this toolkit that just becomes so automatic and it doesn't take 20 years to refine that.

Baasit SiddiquiGUEST

And I would say when it comes to the positive sides, I think it's more of an awareness, right? When you first start and you're in the heat of the moment, whether it's a challenge with behavior, whether it's you've done a back and forth with some children in terms of the questions and they haven't really got to where you're trying to get to and you're trying to feed it.

How can we as teachers talk more openly about our mistakes and the uncertainty without feeling like, you know, I think you almost alluded to it, without feeling like professionally diminished or exposed in some way?
