And how did you design the study to try to look at, you know, that research question, you know, what do we have to worry about in these patients with isolated PAM?
4:27
The study started as a very practical question.
4:31
Back in two thousand and fifteen, a consensus was, uh, established between our department and the ro- neurology regarding the systemic workup for CRAO and BRAO.
4:40
Around that time, that was a, the, we just-- we were just beginning to understand PAM and someone just asked, "And what about PAM?" back then in two thousand and fifteen.
4:50
And basically, we decided somewhat, somewhat, uh, arbitrary to include PAM in the same workup protocol even though there were no data to support it.
5:01
And then about a year and a half ago, a resident present in our weekly round a PAM case, and I basically argue against admitting the patient.
5:10
I thought, uh, it's overdoing and that we don't have to admit those patient because there is no evidence in the literature that we need to do it, while Dr. Katz, my boss, argued that we should admit and do a full investigation.
7:20
What, what did you find? Are these patients having strokes? Are they totally benign? Do we have a way to know which patients, if you're not in an ER setting, you should be sending to the emergency room?
