If you want them to last, don't rip through
22:00
stuff.
22:01
Especially the more pairs of waders you have and the more pairs of waders that you've destroyed, I think the more conscious you become of exactly what you're walking through.
22:10
That's good.
22:11
You guys ever get that feeling if you are walking through briars and all of a sudden you feel the prick of the briar against your leg? Oh, yeah.
22:20
I took a chance and I got burned.
22:24
I always think about that.

28:34
I've had guys say, I've, I've spent all that money and now
43:22
Yeah.
43:23
And I like the magnet attached to the top of the hoop so the handle's down, um, down low, and the hoop's up on my back.
43:32
Couple reasons for that.
43:33
I can just, you know, reach around, grab the handle, um, put it back really easy, counterbalance to the weight of the front of the pack, and then two, I, I just feel like I can get around a lot better with it.
43:44
Now, you need a good magnet.

50:07
Find them at basn5.com or tajima-direct.com.
50:16
One of the reasons I like that setup and what you described too there, Austin, um, it's up ...
50:20
It's out of the way, right? It's not banging against your leg.
28:46
thank you that's right in the edit i'll just like speed it up a little bit then it'll throw the timing for everything never mind right i went
28:56
0.7 x yeah it's funny when we bring up fly size because last time i was out um i feel like this summer well like i said i've been fishing a lot of small streams so that's been opposite but even when i start to transition back yeah um my water closest to home is a little bit slow to like get into its fall rhythms.
29:18
I've been trying all sorts of stuff.
29:20
And so I've been fishing bigger nymphs sort of like what Josh just said, but also last week when I was out, I was like, I'm going to rig up something completely different than what I would normally be used to.
29:32
So I, I first started with just like a, you know, an 18 on the tag, nothing, no, no big deal.
29:38
Fishing that for a while and nothing really changed.
29:39
I still had a, you know, an eight on the, on the point or a, a 10, that was a two X long.

9 MINS LATER

38:19
How can I think like everybody else is thinking? And then try to be like, okay, if this is where everybody is and this is what everybody's doing, then the deer are over
8:47
...
8:47
if, you know, if, if the TroutBitten guy [laughs] was there to drive me around and teach me stuff like, uh, Aiden has available to him, oh, man, I couldn't, you know, just can't imagine that great resource that he has, uh, in you, so that's really neat.

44 MINS LATER

52:43
Yeah
52:43
... who lives on a, a small stream, and throughout his whole childhood that stream was always stocked, but it also has a really strong, uh, population of, uh, of brook trout.
52:53
And this last, maybe two years ago, they stopped stocking that one, and the Fish and Boat, um, redistributed to those fish to a, a real re- uh, real warm water fishery that, uh, no chance of holding wild trouts, which was a great, uh, great move by the Fish and Boat Commission.
53:10
And, and now, you know, he's real upset because if you ask him what's in there, just minnows.
53:16
Minnows referring to the, the native brook trout.
38:44
Oh, yeah
38:44
... you know, do the right thing, uh, wanna contribute to, to positive, uh, efforts like this, but it only takes a small percentage of that, uh, industry to really put a negative light on the rest of the, the rest of the group.
38:58
I don't know.
38:59
Like, the, the guide thing I used to think maybe had a much more positive light, at least in my experience-

10 MINS LATER

48:53
these kind of hodgepodged orders that, uh, are quite frustrating to deal with.
48:59
Yeah, we all deal with that.
49:01
[upbeat music] When nymphing with an indicator, there is nothing more sensitive to strikes, more responsive on the water, and more natural to cast than yarn, and the New Zealand Strike Indicator System is absolutely one of the best options out there.
43:06
Hmm
43:06
... uh, maybe just getting my, my reactions properly aligned with, with the top water eat, a surprise.
43:13
I always thought about it as, like, a jack-in-the-box.
43:16
Your fly or that frog is coming across the water, and it's like, "Any time now, any time now," and then a big explosion, right?

24 MINS LATER

67:38
All right, Austin Dando, you want to read us out, bud?
67:40
I'd love to.
67:42
Okay.
67:43
So remember, the TroutBitten Project is a free resource What's with the, what's the hat on this guy, right? What's the hat on this guy? Okay, for all anglers.
45:36
Mm-hmm.
45:37
Like, in a whole day, and so if you have, you know, you got your dry fly and then you have your dropper, um...
45:44
And the other thing, those nymphs are swimmers.
45:46
They're gonna cross current seams and do different things than something that is just, like, a clinger that's just gonna basically drift in the current and would need, like, a natural drift.
45:57
And so I, that's one hatch that I think it's a, it, you do have an advantage to fishing a dry dropper because they're, you know, at, at, at, at 11:00 AM, they're in both of those zones.

11 MINS LATER

56:54
Mm.
56:54
And that is a good system to me to go to when I see an occasional rise or there's like one fish rising, I'm gonna try to pick it off, but there's nothing else going on.
57:05
If I'm gonna commit to fishing dry dropper, personally, I like to be able to switch over to a regular dry fly leader and fish that way throughout the day.

29:40
Okay.
29:40
And so it makes it frustrating to go fish because, um, I got a buddy that's fished a couple times, and y- it's the same story every time he goes out.
29:50
He's like, "I got in, I fished for 10 minutes, and then somebody jumped in in front of me-
30:10
Hmm.
30:10
Where now, if I go to those areas, there might be 10 to 30 anglers fishing that stream.
30:16
I, I know where I can go and get away from people.
30:19
It, it also ...
30:21
We had a rough winter, and then it- [laughs]
