Um, what would you say to those individuals, you know, that are business owners that are leaning into the personal brand, but they're going broke from posting all the time?
8:20
Yeah.
8:20
It's, it's such a great question.
8:22
The actual thesis of the book is don't be a content creator, be a business owner who creates content.
8:27
And so you need to be very strategic with what type of content that you create.
8:33
Viral for the sake of viral is not gonna help you.
8:36
You could go viral dancing, but you're a car mechanic.
11:00
What's one thing that people are getting wrong that are keeping them at no views, small amount of views?
20:02
How do you think about the structure of what you put out? How much is allowed to be kind of nonsense that is there for engagement or stuff that is personal versus AI? Do you have pillars? How do you organize it?
20:14
Great question.
20:15
So my anecdotal evidence on social media, particularly for Facebook, TikTok does not work this way.
20:25
Instagram kind of works this way and YouTube kind of works this way is that momentum is built from continuous well-performing posts.
20:38
So if you have a series of well-performing posts, your next post is more likely to get engagement based on that previous engagement.
20:45
There's a lot of like tactical reasons for that.
20:47
The algorithms are very good.

35 MINS LATER

55:21
Let it rip.
3:19
So tell us about how Syllabi started and what does it do? And then if you are able to kind of pull the curtains with maybe a demonstration of how people can use Syllabi, and we'll put a link on how they can get access to that as well.
3:33
Yeah, absolutely.
3:34
Well, first of all, thank you so much for the opportunity to be on.
3:36
It's an honor to chat and nerd out with you.
3:39
Yeah.
3:40
Syllabi came from my marketing agency background and experience.
3:47
So I'll summarize this as quick as I can, but I came from a marketing agency background about 12 years.

29 MINS LATER

32:36
Okay.
8:13
Yeah.
8:14
Uh, but I went to Jeremy and I said, "Let's figure out YouTube Shorts." And what we did was every single day we got on a Zoom call together to study other videos, study each other's videos.
8:27
We meticulously, uh, broke down the length of opening hooks, the titles, what was working in my niche, in, in other people's niches.
8:36
And what we ultimately found was that I was dumping all of my content.
8:44
It was a little bit too all over the place, even though it was digital marketing focused.
8:48
TikTok strategy videos, Pinterest strategy videos, SEO.
8:52
And when I looked at and started uploading only my top performing TikTok videos, which was a very broad, these five websites feel illegal to know type of series, three a day, it unlocked the entire YouTube algorithm.

24 MINS LATER

32:39
So if I was gonna do a text post on Facebook, what might one of those look like?
13:33
true so that's a great lesson guys you're entrepreneurs you got to just do things like he's talking about taking the big swings at the bat just take swings period and you'll realize that you know sometimes they do good sometimes they don't bad but when do you know like when to quit because i think that's another thing some people just stay in something probably too long and it just doesn't really ever pan out what what are you using for gut feel or or kind of a process to kind of look at what you're doing
13:59
yeah that's a that's a great question i don't know if i have a quantifiable practice for myself but if there's just not any traction whatsoever so like i'll do like on content ideas for instance this is typically what i'll do is if i want to try a new content strategy, format of content, slightly new niche or topic or something like that, I need to give it at least a 30-day time frame to just really give it a go and see if it can work.
14:36
Right now, just a good example, I just got this humanoid robot.
14:40
And so I'm making humanoid robot content.
14:42
The first video I put up, popped, did a million views.
14:47
Now I've since created about five other videos and they're not doing that great whatsoever.
14:53
They're doing okay, they're not doing that great.

13 MINS LATER

28:04
Let's talk to that
8:15
Tell us about that because I know that there's a lot of people listening who are building their own personal brand, and h- like, why is that important? 'Cause clearly you've really invested in that for yourself, and you've prioritized that.
8:31
Well, for me, it's my creative outlet first of all, so I need to create content.
8:36
I build businesses that allow me to create content.
8:39
It is my outlet.
8:40
I love creating content, so it's very easy for me.
8:44
Now, I recognize that that is not the case for a lot of people.
8:48
There's a lot of very introverted people.

17 MINS LATER

25:30
Yeah.
4:30
Huh.
4:31
Yeah.
4:31
And so I kinda saw the writing on the wall of AI is gonna be able to do a lot at a high level of what I do at my agency.
4:39
And so I kinda made that decision of do I wait and see what happens, watch it take my business away slowly and disrupt it, or do I lead into the storm and, and try and bet on this path? And, uh, I did.
4:54
So I, I started my first AI software company about three years ago-

18 MINS LATER

22:59
Yeah.
23:00
And so, like, don't be afraid of, of the saturation, uh, piece, because it's only gonna get more saturated for here.
23:06
But it's user signals.
38:14
So love to talk about the hook, and then how we do the kind of authority part, the why you should care part, um, really well.
38:23
Yeah.
38:24
So the other nuance here as well is short-form content tends to go viral faster than long-form content.
38:31
Keep that in, in the back of your mind.
38:33
With that said, the infinite doom scroll on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook Reels now, YouTube Shorts, all of these platforms, we have to capture attention immediately, or the next piece of content probably will.
38:49
There is a endless supply of content now, and that is the importance of the opening hook.
38:55
You also have to remember that nobody is doom scrolling on social media for you specifically.

9 MINS LATER

48:26
I just think it's wonderful, and I really wanna think through kind of taking your business, an ad agency, and going, "We can turn this actually into an actual product that people can use." I wanna think through that whole process.
