10:18
Yeah.
10:18
And i- the law even says it has to be visible to everyone of average vision, so there's really no way to opt out of it.
10:27
So I thought this was alarming.
10:29
Um, one of the o- there's three of us moms that are now suing the state of Texas.
10:33
Another one of them had already taken this up the ranks within Spring Branch ISD and had been rejected multiple times.
10:40
And so we all kinda met through mutual friends as well as lawyers that we're all mutual friends with.
10:46
Um, so there's three of us moms that are now suing the state of Texas about this law that requires the Ten Commandments posters to be up in every classroom because for a whole number of reasons.
14:28
But so explain that for the audience.
1:00
Anyway, tell me a little bit about what, first of all, tell us a little bit about yourself.
1:04
Sure thing.
1:05
Hey, I'm Audrey.
1:06
I live in Montrose, married, have two kids, and my kids go to two different HISD schools.
1:13
And basically, like everyone else, I heard about SB10.
1:16
You know, I think I heard about it probably on Facebook initially.
1:20
Wait a minute.
6:11
you know, there is a comment, I think, that someone have made to you about, well, isn't it true that whether you are Christian or not, the morality basis on the Ten Commandments warrants it being okay? Kind of reinterpret that for me.
28:00
Mm-hmm.
28:01
And yeah, we all feel strongly that, that it's not appropriate to have a law in the state of Texas saying that every classroom, not every school, every classroom in every public school in Texas has to have this poster of the Ten Commandments up, and it even says it has to be visible to-
29:09
Houston Court?
29:11
Well, so far- Yeah, the injunction ... that's right.
29:13
So, well- The, uh, the- ...
29:15
the temporary restraining order.
29:16
Yes.
29:16
So th- there will be many court appearances to come.
17:00
So recently you ran for city council.
17:04
I did.
17:04
Yeah.
17:05
So essentially since quitting academics, I've had more time for advocacy and a lot of the stuff that I just really care about.
17:11
You know, this was a little voice in my mind that it started really third year med school in the county hospitals where it's like, wow, you could have all the fanciest discoveries and research in the world, but people don't have healthcare because of bad policies, you know, and, and that was there.
17:32
And I kind of pushed it out of my mind for all those years.
17:35
Cause it's like, no, I have to be MD, PhD.

11 MINS LATER

28:18
Like, did you have any run ins? I don't want to pick on Houston, Texas, but.
