At what point in your career do you need to start thinking strategically about the path forwards and how much of your energy is going to be devoted on doing the job that you've actually been assigned as well as you can and, uh, thinking strategically about, about moving forwards? Uh, or is it a question of walking and chewing gum at the same time?
24:55
So I think, I think the idea of strategy is interesting because the idea that you can actually m-map out what's gonna happen fifty years in the future is something that is... is something we should plan for but, uh, realize that you have no idea what fifty years is gonna look like, right? So we all watched the show Back to the Future when we were young-ish and realized that we are further in time from nineteen eighty-four, uh, than Marty was when he went back to nineteen fifty-five, right? Then-- And you think about how they were looking at the future, right? They were seeing that you would have self-tying shoelaces and hoverboards.
25:46
Our perception of the future fifty years from now is equally silly, right? We think of things that might be possible which are probably not going to ever occur, and we cannot conceive of what will probably be, uh, fifty years from now.
26:04
So if you're thinking about AI, you're probably thinking either that we're all going to be, you know, put out of work or s-- cease to exist because AI will take over.
26:16
Uh, very hard therefore to, to actually have any strategy, right? All you can say is tomorrow will be roughly like today, and therefore an infinite series of tomorrows will be more or less like today.
26:32
Except that you know a couple of things.
26:35
You will look older, feel older.

If you were advising somebody, uh, who said, "Look, how do I, how do I make a difference? How do I have an impact as me?" Uh, what non-AI related skill or maybe habits do you think [clears throat] uh, young people and graduates should be thinking about learning that can distinguish them from what the robots are already doing for us?
