We are knee deep in the story of Elijah, where our second scripture picks up this morning.

To this point, Elijah has been called by God to face King Ahab and the false prophets of Baal, the God they worship.

Elijah defeats their prophets in a dramatic display of fire and rain from heaven.

Queen Jezebel and a rage ensues.

calls for the execution of Elijah, and he flees, terrified.

He travels a long day's journey, stops under a tree, and asks God to die, saying, It is enough, Lord.
