Mm-hmm

... bring everyone on the journey towards an active lifestyle, which is essentially what our subject is there for.
4:18
Um, and in the various roles that I've had, the focus has never quite been enough on this, you know, physical activity for everyone.
4:28
Um, because when you're a head of sport, you're driven by the results and the participation in that particular sport.
4:35
Then you get bogged down with fixtures and staffing and all the rest of it, coach development.
4:41
Um, when you're a head of girls games, you know, you're doing that, but you're doing it on a level up, involving lots of sports.

And I think there's a real gap in our subject area where who's actually looking at this? Who's actually looking at the participation rates, the engagement in physical activity within a whole school community? Um, so a bit like what the, um, what Sports School England do with their, um, Active Life survey and Youth Sport Trust with all their work that they do, um, they're, you know, finding out what are the barriers that are preventing people, children nationally from being active, and coming up with initiatives that hopefully prevent that from happening, and I see my job as doing that on a small scale.
