So what is it like for you to sit down and write a song? Where does the inspiration come from?
9:47
It can come from a lot of places.
9:49
I mean, very often the episode gives us an assignment.
9:53
Okay, like right now we're doing an episode on pets, so I wrote a song about dogs.
9:59
Or the phonics episode, we were teaching phonics, we're like, oh, we're going to do a phonics song.
10:06
Or a song about social skills.
10:09
There's a song called I Could Be Your Friend where...
12:33
What is it like in your house? Is there a moment you looked at each other and said, what is going on? What is happening?
115:45
What was the creative process that went behind these 23 tracks?
115:50
Yeah, so, uh, the album is a snapshot of our whole journey making the show because it has songs that we wrote at the beginning of starting the show and all the way up to songs we recently wrote.
116:01
We took songs that were, some that were just piano and added an orchestra, or sometimes we wanted to expand the songs and add a bridge.
116:11
Um, it's just been a, a wonderful process, and we're, we're so happy-
116:32
How did that come about?
116:34
So this song is about a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, but it's also, um, it's about our son because, so it goes back to 2020.
116:43
I was putting him to bed, and he wa- he had a speech delay at the time and was, you know, had struggles, but I was also thinking about how much potential he has and what a wonderful spirit he has.
116:56
And I started, um, and so I wrote the song sitting there.
15:35
What was the creative process that went behind these 23 tracks?
15:40
Yeah, so, uh, the album is a snapshot of our whole journey making the show because it has songs that we wrote at the beginning of starting the show and all the way up to songs we recently wrote.
15:51
We took songs that were...
15:53
Some that were just piano and added an orchestra, or sometimes we wanted to expand the songs and add a bridge.
16:01
Um, it's just been a, a wonderful process, and we're, we're so happy to be sharing it with the world-
16:23
How did that come about?
16:25
So this song is about a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, but it's also, um, it's about our son because, see, it goes back to 2020.
16:34
I was putting him to bed, and he wa- he had a speech delay at the time and was, you know, had struggles, but I was also thinking about how much potential he has and what a wonderful spirit he has, and I started, um...

And you're going to tell us about I'm So Happy, your first album ever, which I'm surprised because you guys sing all the time.
24:48
Yeah, we do.
24:49
But we're very excited to finally have an album.
24:52
And we took a lot of care to make it.
24:55
And it's a snapshot of from the beginning of the show to where we are now.
25:48
Tell me about how that translates over into this album.
25:50
Yeah, so I worked for about 17 years as a music director on Broadway and worked with some of the best composers and arrangers and people I look up to.
26:00
So it was wonderful to bring some of that craft and detail to this album.
