Why do you support this initiative to ban transgender athletes in girls sports for Washington? Why? Why should people vote yes on I-638?
22:05
Sure.
22:06
Thanks for the question, Libby.
22:07
I am, just to give a little bit of context, I am a mother of four and have three girls, all of who attended public schools and played sports in various different organizations from basketball to volleyball to sports.
22:22
baseball, all different kinds of sports.
22:25
And I also want to say that I have the utmost respect for our transgender youth, for our transgender population.
22:35
I am very well connected, have personal connections and family connections to our transgender community.

7 MINS LATER

30:04
What's your response to those concerns?
37:19
So tell me about the genesis of this.
37:22
Well, it actually started with your expose that you had put out, Randy, and I am a real estate agent by trade.
37:30
I've been a real estate agent for 25 years in the Tri-Cities, and the integrity of the business and what we do is really important to me.
37:38
I'm also a huge proponent of down payment assistance programs, and I have one, as you know, that's been on the table for the last three years, the Homes for Heroes bill, which I will also be doing an amendment to that bill to make sure that it can't be stacked.
37:51
But when your expose came out, it immediately, especially the real estate piece of it and how the real estate agents could maybe be involved allegedly really struck home with me.
38:03
And the fact that we have so many homeowners out there that would love to be able to have the down payment assistance help, that it's not being divided between all the homeowners that people are allowed to stack them and it's helping less people in Washington.
38:19
We can talk about the different types of homeowners assistance programs, but as you know, typically a down payment assistance program, or maybe you don't know, is about 3%.
39:42
Is it because of the racial
30:53
But what do you think are some of the key arguments against it that resonate with people the most, that they can they can most easily understand why this is a bad policy for the state?
31:06
First, I think if you look at the history of rent control, call it stabilization.
31:11
I feel like the Democrats have a great way of taking words and making them different so they sound better in a lot of contexts across the board.
31:19
But rent control has failed everywhere that it has been tried.
31:22
And this policy is not going to be any different.
31:25
And I think it's important to know that I understand I'm actually a real estate agent by trade.
31:29
I've been selling houses for over 25 years and I understand what supply and demand looks like.
32:26
So, and presumably out of the rental market, they'll go to like a single family unit or something.
